A little about lil ol’ me…general

I was born in British Columbia, Canada in 1979 and am the oldest of four children in a family with Ukrainian/Polish/Norweigian/Welsh/Irish roots. My parents are very hard working people; I hope that some of their work ethic has rubbed off on me :). I also have two “surrogate” mothers, Nancee G. and Bunny S..

I have hazel eyes, pale/freckled skin, and hair that (when in its natural blend of shades) is grey and dark brown; currently, it is dyed black. After my sister’s wedding this summer, I am growing out my grey hair, because I miss my grey hair, and want to see it again. If I tire of it in the future, you may see me auburn (though I would prefer a nice striking violet hue………I’m not sure my employer would 🙂 ).

I write smut (literate smut?) and horror (more smut?). Horror seems to be more difficult to publish electronically – either that or I have not found a good market for it yet…….

I recently bought Canadian Investing for Dummies, as I know NOTHING about investing and realize that at 30 years of age, it’s time that I started thinking more about the future instead of just living in the moment, such as I do.

As for love interests, I am currently single and hope to stay that way until I am settled in my career. There’s a certain someone that I met last summer, got to know, and now correspond with – but distance is a factor. We shall see what happens. I’ve recently moved, so meeting new people will be on my list of things to do.

Random things about me:

My close friends call me Manders or M.
I hate snow machines (riding them).
I love riding horses but have not mastered the art.
I am really untrusting of dairy products that have been left out on the counter for an extended period of time.
I am growing a herb garden this year (sweet basil, summer savory, thyme, dill, and peppers & roma tomatoes)
I LOVE SUSHI………but not sardines or anchovies or escargot or oysters *gross gross gross*
Tori Amos songs play in my head regularly throughout the day….even though I don’t understand a lot of the words.
My favorite color is forest green.
My favorite metal is copper.
I’m obsessed with spirals. I kid you not.
I couldn’t make a cabbage roll to save my life………….but I’m not too bad at making perogies.
I felt that The Secret, while delightful in parts, was pretty pretentious as a whole.
My favorite commercial on TV is the one about the little white ceramic salt shaker who sees the family eating the sodium reduced side-dish as the song “How am I supposed to live without you?” (or whatever) plays in the background and when he tips his head forward the salt spills out his eyes as he “cries” salt. Every time I see it I go “awwwwwwww”…….
I am destined to be a spinster who gets eaten by her three not-so-loyal cats Ebony, Ivory, and Amber.
I have NO interest in childbearing, and if not for all my sinful behavior, should have considered becoming a nun.
My favorite article of clothing is a Ghoulies II movie shirt. Ah, memories……
My hair has been every color in the rainbow: I’ve done em all — purple, blue, green, aqua, blonde, orange, red, pink, burgundy, purple, black, brunette, auburn, etc. Sometimes these colors were intentional – sometimes they were due to an unforseen chemical reaction.
My toenails are currently painted a dark forest green (Sally Hansen Insta Dry, gotta love it)
I’m a pretty decent cook who loves to experiment (exhibit A: last week’s maple-walnut chicken), and I’ve watched Julie & Julia at least 3 times (a good friend got me Julia’s 2-volume “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” as a nursing graduation present).
I love Lost but it totally lost me, because I missed a few episodes……
I quilt, but cannot stand knitting.
I resort to baby talk when I talk to certain friends out of some strange excitement factor…..they seem to tolerate it well enough 🙂
Favorite flower: lilies, particularly of the star gazer variety. After that, calla lilies. Then gerber daisies. Then sunflowers.
Can’t live without: coffee and chocolate, not necessarily in that order.
Favorite authors: Dean Koontz, Nora Roberts, Anna Windsor, Stephen King, Graham Masterton, used to really like Elizabeth Hayden, various others.

I hope that you found that entertaining.

Sincere regards,

Amanda M. Holt
